Jerome Ince-Mitchell

Jerome is a young London artist currently studying Painting at the Royal College of Art.

He has exhibited in over 25 shows across London and the UK and been featured in several different contemporary art publications including F-Word Magazine and After Nyne Magazine. His practice has been recognized through many different awards and competitions, most recently receiving the travel award from the Royal College of Art to produce an artwork that interprets the UK’s decision to leave the E.U and vote in favor of Brexit. Currently, he has works held by the GX Gallery in London and several private art collections.

His works explore themes around freedom, play, sensuality and interaction, juxtaposing the drawn human form with the usually colorful abstract settings they inhabit.

Njideka Akunyili Crosby, Robert Rauschenberg, Jean Michel Basquiat, Mark Bradford and Kerry James Marshall are some of the most notable artists Jerome’s works take influence from. Playing with objects and language, he enjoys placing clues to deeper narratives within his works. His use of several different mediums in a single composition reflects the layers of growth he experiences, and through this, with every new piece there is a sense of a living archive.

He has worked with other notable contemporary artists such as Alexsandra Mir for her Space Tapestry shows at Modern Art Oxford and Tate Liverpool, as well as Henry Hudson for his ‘Sun City Tanning’ exhibition at the Sotheby’s New York gallery and the Carl Kostyal gallery in London.
